Health Benefits of Capsicum

Health Benefits of Capsicum

Updated: 03 August, 2019

Capsicum is an edible vegetable commonly known as bell pepper, a popular ingredient in many of the top weight loss pills on the market today. A member of Capsicum annuum, it is native to central and native America. Its relatives are tomato and chili peppers. The pepper is available in many colors and is rich in vitamins A, B, C, E, and K.

Capsicum has multiple health and nutritional benefits. Take a look at some of the numerous health benefits of this amazing vegetable:

Health Benefits of Capsicum

1. It has Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Capsicum contains phytochemical that makes it a good anti-inflammatory agent. Taking advantage of this property, it is extensively used to manufacture skin products and joint pain relievers.

It is generally known for combating a neurologic pain, crohn’s disease. You can add capsicum balms to Ayurvedic medicine to enhance its effectiveness at relieving arthritis pain.

2.     It Supports Healthier Heart

Some capsicum components enable the edible vegetables to support a healthy heart. By lowering the homocystein levels in the body, folate and vitamin B removes one of the major causes of cardiovascular illnesses.

Lycopene and fiber reduce the level of fat in the body while its potassium component helps the body to maintain the right blood pressure for a healthy heart.

  3.   It Improves Sight

Red bell pepper is rich in vitamin A. Eating this pepper will improve your sight. It is notably very effective at improving consumers’ night vision.

Due to the vitamin A capsicum contains lutein, otherwise known as carotenoid. This ingredient makes consumers less susceptible to macular degeneration, an eye condition that is responsible for visual loss in adults.

Its vitamin C and beta-carotene components offer protection from cataract, another eye-related health condition that impairs sight.

4.     It Fights Off Cancer

Chronic oxidative stress and excessive inflammation are two of the major causes of cancer. Capsicum offers anti-cancer benefits because it is rich in both anti-inflammatory nutrients and antioxidants.

The regular consumption of bell peppers will control these factors that trigger cancer. Gastric cancer can be prevented by the enzymes in capsicum. The carotenoid lycopene in this vegetable is effective in preventing different forms of cancer such as bladder, prostate, pancreas, and cervix.

An article entitled “Anticancer Properties of Capsaicin Against Human Cancer” highlights the effectiveness of capsicum as an anti-cancer agent.

5.     It Boosts Immune System

A compromised immune system is a waiting time bomb. Once your immunity is breached, you will become susceptible to all forms of illnesses. Regular consumption of this edible vegetable will help you beef up your immunity to ward off ailments.

It contains vitamin K, an essential nutrient for protecting cells from the destructive oxidative damage and the development of strong bones. The vitamin prevents you from bleeding excessively from bruises and wounds. It also promotes faster healing.

Its vitamin C component beefs up the immune system. This is in addition to its ability to repair damaged brain tissues and build strong collagen. The body needs the collagen as support for joints and the skin and thus prevents unnecessary damage to these body parts.

Possible Side Effects

Some of the downsides of consuming capsicum in excess are:

  •       Stomach flu.
  •       Skin irritation.
  •       Liver damage.
  •       Runny nose.
  •       Sweating.

12 Practical Ways to Get A Perfect Breasts

12 Practical Ways to Get A Perfect Breasts

Updated: 3 August, 2019

Interested in learning how to get perfect breasts? Every woman has a pair of breasts, big or small, perky or saggy and anything in between. There is one thing all women want irrespective of age, size, gender, ethnicity, race, social class and occupation, Perfect breasts. I know you want it. There is nothing that reduces a woman’s self-esteem like having breasts that does not meet societal standards.

A woman’s breast changes her outlook. It gives fitting to any cloth she wears. It attracts people to her and boosts her self-confidence. The world has been taken over by the internet. Images that appear on social media (often doctored), set the standard for what a perfect breast should be. Breast surgery has become very common, with results being round, huge and firm breasts that don’t sag (though it sags eventually but that’s not what people want to hear).

 Perfect Breasts

What really is a perfect breast? Are there really breasts that can be termed perfect? In reality, people have different views on what a perfect breast should be. For some people large breasts are perfect. For others medium breasts that do not sag are perfect. Small breasts even hold lots of appeal for some people and to them small breasts are just perfect. People have different reasons for seeing a particular breast type as perfect. For example, some people believe that people with large breasts sweat a lot, under their breast (this might be true in some cases), and as a result smell badly. Other people might love large breasts even if they sag because they find it attractive. With all these opinions about perfect breasts (which can cause so much confusion and lead to serious arguments with everyone trying to prove their point), there is need to come to a meeting point with our ideas and set a realistic standard for perfect breasts.

Fortunately scientists have helped us settle this issue. According to an article published by the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, perfect breasts are 45% full on the upper side and 55% full on the lower side, below the nipple. They came to this conclusion after carrying out a study on more than 1300 people who cut across all race and religion with both genders present. The participants were asked to look at naked breasts pictures of different sizes and shapes. They were told to pick out the perfect breasts from these pictures. This was done to know which of the breasts males found attractive or held more appeal to the female participants.

Contrary to popular beliefs that surgically enhanced breasts are more attractive, most of the participants chose the natural looking breasts over the ones that were surgically improved. The most favored breast types were termed by the scientists as the 45:55 ratio breasts. Surgically enhanced breasts which are usually round due to silicon implants were the least preferred. The scientists that carried out this experiment stated emphatically that this research was purely for plastic surgery purposes. They just wanted to get public opinion on which breasts pattern will be more acceptable, so as to improve on the result of their breast reconstruction surgeries.

Breast Growth and Development

Some young girls start to develop breasts between the ages of 8-10 (early bloomers) while others develop theirs towards the end of their teenage years (late bloomers). Most girls start developing breasts between the ages of 10-12. Gene is the major factor at play in breast development. Your breast characteristics can come from both sides of your family, so genes from your dad’s side can affect what your breasts end up looking like too, says Maryjane Minkin, MD., Professor of obsterics and gyneacology.

The breasts has no muscle but is made up of fatty tissues surrounding the milk duct and milk glands. At the onset of breast development most girls have just body fats as breasts. With time these fats becomes real breasts, still made up largely of fat. It is therefore not surprising that weight loss has a direct impact on the breast. Excessive and sudden weight loss will cause severe loss of breast fat and will most likely make the breast sag.

Your breasts experience some changes when you are menstruating or pregnant. They get fuller. At pregnancy the changes on the breasts are more pronounced to prepare the breasts for nursing. Breast size has no effect on fertility. No matter your breast size and shape, nature will adequately equip you for breastfeeding (in case you choose to breastfeed your baby).

12 Practical Ways to Get Perfect Breasts

You cannot change your gene, yes. However there are practical ways to get perfect breasts. The 45:55 breast type chosen as perfect breasts after thorough scientific study might have been for cosmetic purposes but you can still groom your breast to at least look like it, irrespective of the size. The impact of the gene on the breast is huge and can give you breasts that are not very desirable. However, there are ways to improve your breasts. They include the following;

1.  Eat collagen rich meals:

A healthy meal packed with collagen nourish and strengthen the body. Super fruits like oranges, carrot and pawpaw contain a good amount of collagen. Collagen firms and enhances the skin, giving it a strong and healthy look. If your body is flaccid, you are more likely to have a saggy breast. Take even more collagen if you have big breasts. Big breasts sag earlier than small ones. This is due to its weight and pull on the body. For people who started developing breast early and rapidly, their breast might sag before their twenties if their body is not firm. However, the extent of the sag can be controlled. A good meal rich in fruits and vegetables will keep the sag in check. The added benefit of taking collagen rich food is that they also contain antioxidants like beta-carotene. This chemical substance can be very beneficial to your health as it helps prevent breast cancer caused by free radicals.

2.  Correct your posture:

The way you carry your body can distort the look of your breasts, making them look saggy. Make sure you walk upright at all times. Be conscious of your posture, don’t slouch or hunch your back especially when on your feet. You can tell a friend to always correct you when you do so. If you don’t walk upright your breasts will not stand as they should. With time it will adapt to your bad walking posture. This will give you an overall unpleasant look. Push your chest forward while walking (chest out but make it real). If you keep trying this you will definitely notice a change on your breasts. You might think your breasts look saggy whereas you are the one making them look so.

 3.   Wear bras that fit:

The bra you wear have a lasting impact on your breasts. Most people don’t wear the right bra (do you know your real bra size?). Go for a professional bra fitting to know your proper bra size. Make sure your bra pack your breasts well. If you have large breasts, ensure that the sides are packed by your bra. They should not pop out at the sides. ”Wearing incorrect bra can irreversibly stretch the fragile ligament of the breast leading to sagging”, says Dr. Joanna Scurr, a Lecturer of Biomechanics, Sports and Exercise. Bras help mold the breasts shape especially in their early years of development. If your breasts are growing rapidly and you do not support them with good bras they will sag easily. The weight of your breasts needs to be supported. A growing large breast experience constant gravitational pull. It is therefore necessary to support it. If your breasts are small, you should also wear good bra to help them form well. Always allocate time to go braless to enable free circulation of blood through the breasts. Click here to watch a video on bra fitting.

 4.  Engage in Breast Exercises:

The breasts contain more of fat. It does not have muscles therefore exercises cannot increase your breasts. Loss of weight resulting from frequent exercise or dieting can make you lose some of your breast volume (this might sag your breasts). However there are exercises that can build the chest and pectoral muscle under the breast. If these chest muscles are well built up through effective exercises they will lift your breasts, making then look fuller and bigger. Since the breast is positioned on top of the chest, they will look lifted thus giving you a good look. You can try these exercises for your chest; chest presses, push up variations, arm circles, etc.

 5.  Try Cold and Warm Water Therapy:

Splashing warm and cold water on your breasts alternatively after bath, can strengthen and tone them. Before you have your bath, get your ice ready. After having your bath the ice must have dissolved into cold water. Splash the cold water on your breasts followed by warm water. Do this for at least 2 minutes and dry off. Make this your daily routine and you will see your breasts improve. It will appear firmer and more rounded.

 6.  Wear Sports Bra During Sports:

Your breasts bounce up, down, left and right when you engage in any form of sports. From mild sports like jogging to intense ones like sprint race, the breasts bounce the same way. This bounce takes its toll on the breasts, if they are not adequately supported. They might stretch the breasts ligaments and cause early sagging. If you engage in any form of sports, get a good sports bra for your activities. Let them be your investment, if you want your breasts to stay firm. Good sports bra will also prevent chest pain for women who engage in sports by supporting the breasts, especially if they are heavy.

 7.  Massage Your Breasts More Often:

When you massage your breasts, the circulation of blood in and around them improves. The breast size can also increase as constant stimulation of the breasts produces prolactin, a reproductive hormone responsible for the growth of the breasts. Before you start this massage rub your palms together to generate heat. Then cup each breast with your warm palms and massage inwardly in a circular motion. You can try this twice a day for one moth if you desire a quick result, so be patient. Remember to take a break once your palms lose their warmth and re-warm them. A session of massage should last at least 2 minutes.

 8.  Try Yoga:

If you think that yoga is just for meditation and mind relaxation, think again. Yoga can strengthen and firm body muscles, chest muscle is not an exception. We have established that the breast has no muscle but the chest does. Yoga enhances the breast by working the chest muscle and enhancing your posture. This way, you will be able to carry your breasts in the right way giving it a perfect look. Since yoga has no adverse effect or cause injury, you can engage in it as frequent as you want. If you don’t love yoga but desire perfect breasts, learn to love it. It is very beneficial both for your breast and mind.

 9.  Use sunscreen:

Too much sun cause lots of damages to the skin. It dries up body moisture making the skin inelastic. If this happens to the skin of your breasts it will sag easily as it becomes weak with time. Besides perfect breasts, excess sun is also harmful to your breast health as it encourages the oxidation of free radicals which might lead to cancer. Get a good sunscreen and use it properly. If you must stay under the sun, ensure that you rub your sunscreen on all the exposed parts of your body.

10.  Limit the pressure on your breasts:

If you are fond of sleeping on your breasts, please stop it. You are putting your body weight on your breasts. This pressure weakens the breast ligaments and stretch them causing lines of wrinkles to appear. This in turn creases your breasts and will eventually make them sag early. Learn to sleep less on your breasts and choose other comfortable sleeping positions. Also learn to give your breasts time to be free from bra hold. If you must wear push-ups, limit the time. They cause so much pressure on your breasts and prevent proper blood circulation.

 11.  Try breast enhancement pills and creams:

If you desire bigger breasts you can always go for breasts enhancement pills and creams. You have to be careful when choosing any pill or cream. Most of them are just names and only few live up to their names. Do your investigation and find out which is best for you. Breast pills and creams contain substances that work like estrogen to increase your breasts. However, patience is needed on your part as it takes time and consistent use to see results. Check the ingredients of any pill and cream you are using, make sure you are not allergic to any of them.

12.  Go for a breast surgery:

Over the years breast surgery has gained much prominence as a way of getting perfect breasts. People who can afford it often opt for breast enlargements, lifts and reduction surgeries. If done by a professional, it is generally safe with very low risk (you will have to live with the scars though). If you have tried all the above mentioned ways to get perfect breasts and there is no improvement, try breast surgery (if you can afford it) to improve your breasts and give you your desired breasts. Make sure you go for a professional breast surgeon so you will not end up with worse breasts after surgery.

On a general note, breasts are as perfect as you see them. What you call perfect might not seem so to another. Whether large, medium or small, work on your breasts to prevent early sagging. Your breasts will eventually sag as you age, just don’t contribute to its early sagging. No matter how your breasts are, love them and love yourself.

CariDee English: Top Model With Psoriasis

CariDee English: Top Model With Psoriasis

Updated: 3 August, 2019

Popularly known as the winner of the seventh season of ”America’s Next Top Model” in 2006, CariDee English is an advocate for women living with psoriasis. The American model and television personality was born on September 23, 1984, in Fargo, North Dakota, United States. Psoriasis is a serious autoimmune skin condition appearing as thick red patches on the skin covered by flaky white skin. If one is suffering from this skin condition, their immune system sends out bad signals that will abnormally speed up the growth of the skin cells. Psoriasis affects relatively 2% of the world population, making it a relatively common condition”, says James W. Swan, MD., dermatologist, associate professor in the department of medicine and medical director of the Patch Testing Program at the Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago. He also stated that psoriasis is one of the top ten chronic skin conditions with the first signs of raindrop-like eruptions. This sign will later progress to a more severe plague. About 7.5 million Americans are diagnosed with the disease so it is fairly common in the country.

However people are not yet equipped with enough information about the skin condition. This disease is usually diagnosed in people between the ages of 15-35 but it was different for CariDee English. She was diagnosed at just 5 years old and has learnt to live with it since then. She first noticed a small patch on her leg and dismissed it as a bug bite. English showed her mother the supposed bug bite and was told it was a skin condition more serious than the regular ones. Her mother knew it was psoriasis as she has the same skin condition.  Psoriasis is hereditary so it was clear to English’s mom that her daughter had inherited the disease from her. As she got a bit older, English probably thought that the patch on her skin will remain as it is (worst case scenario) or eventually disappear, but it was not so. As she grew, the patch not only grew but multiplied all over her body. It started appearing on various areas of her skin as lesions, covering every part of her body (legs, arms, back, chest, etc.). She was very lucky that her face was spared, leaving her with little confidence to hold on to.

As English grew into adolescence, she became more conscious of her condition. She was ok with her skin at first until her early teens when she became more aware of the problem. Her skin was different from that of her peers. It wasn’t just the regular pimples or reactions that were characteristic of adolescence, her condition was more severe. The first full flare she had at 12 awakened her senses to the damage the disease was doing to her skin. It dawned on her that her skin might never be free of these patches and will keep getting worse. She often felt insecure knowing her skin could flare up at any moment. Out of necessity, she devised ways to cover up her skin to hide what she considered as defects. All she wanted at that point in her life was to fit in and be ”normal” like others, but her skin made her the exact opposite. She stood out among her peers and not for a good reason. Wearing long sleeved tops even in hot weather just to cover up her skin was one way she could blend in even at her own discomfort. She mastered the act of hiding her arms stylishly so others couldn’t take notice of them.

If she had to go to the gym with her mates, she would make sure to get a doctor’s report that will exempt her from gym activities. Gyming will definitely involve removing her clothes and by so doing people will see how psoriasis has dealt with her skin. English felt insecure and her self-esteem kept dwindling. She knew the disease was not peculiar to her only, that there were other people out there. This didn’t boost her esteem one bit during her teenage years as the disease gained more ground on her skin taking up to 70% of her entire body surface. When asked about the impressions on her skin, she would reply that she got hurt.

Trying to explain her condition to close friends was hard, besides she didn’t really know what to say about it at that age. She always felt hurt when people tried to keep away from her because of the way her skin looked. They thought the disease was contagious and she couldn’t convince them otherwise. These hostile reactions from people towards her planted in her the desire to learn all she could about the disease. She wanted to be able to talk about it, to create awareness on the skin condition, as she observed that people deserted her because they didn’t fully understand what her condition was.

Determined not to be deterred by psoriasis, English started working towards the actualization of her modeling dream. She was signed on by Mega Models at 17 after graduating early from high school. What would have been hard for someone without her condition was even harder for her as modeling requires skin perfection of some sort which she was really lacking. She tried so much to hide the lesions on her skin (this time with improved tactics) by covering them up with heavy foundation makeup. It was very stressful, exhausting and emotional for her as she had to dedicate time to hide who she really was on a daily basis. It didn’t help matters that the patches and lesions increased daily creating even more surface to be covered up. According to Dr. Swan ”significant increase in stress level can trigger a psoriasis flare-up or make the condition worse”. A person suffering from psoriasis can flare up because of reasons ranging from stress, anxiety, emotional problems or medications. The stress of English’s new job was making her flare up more often.

After partaking in her first photo-shoot as a model, her secret was let out in the open. The pictures of her shoot came out showing the psoriasis on her legs. At that moment she was scared of losing the job she just started so she denied any knowledge of her condition. She insisted that the photographer was not efficient and was responsible for the poor pictures. English knew she had to set things right and take the fall, so she wrote to her agency about the disease she had. She was asked to leave the agency the next day as they didn’t want her with her condition. It was a bad moment for her, the rejection stung. However she pressed on, moving on to other agencies but was still rejected because of psoriasis.

Constant rejection from various modeling agencies motivated English to gather all the information she could on psoriasis and study them. She researched the condition with the aim of knowing all there is about it. English discovered several ways to manage psoriasis and that constant experiments were constantly being carried out to find a cure for the disease. She understood that if she wanted people to understand her condition and accept her with psoriasis, then she has to first understand and embrace it.

Psoriasis cannot be permanently cured, one who is afflicted with it has to learn to live with it. Knowing this, English sought the assistance of good dermatologists. After meeting with three of them, she was glad to be told that her condition can be properly managed. Controlling it would be great but English also wanted the whole world to be aware of the disease. She could get treated and move on with her life but she wanted others suffering like her to be encouraged and get treated too. She knew some people living with psoriasis might not even understand what it is or know what to do about it. So before she could start her own treatment she decided to document herself in front of a camera during one of her full blown flare-ups.

While discussing her skin condition with Mary Elizabeth Dallas, English said that she decided to show the public what psoriasis looked like. She wanted to inspire people suffering from psoriasis to live their lives to the fullest even with the disease. They could learn to enjoy life like normal people because they are indeed normal. She believed that psoriasis was just like any other sickness one might be afflicted with. A psoriasis patient can still pursue her dreams and make great achievements. She admitted that doing the video documentary was both liberating and scary. Liberating because she was able to be her true self in front of the camera and scary because she didn’t know how people will react to the video.

To her greatest surprise, she received positive responses to her documentary. People commended her for showing the world what psoriasis is. Those suffering from the disease were encouraged to speak up. Because of her video, lots of psoriasis patients learned to love themselves. Their condition had made them feel ugly and unacceptable but seeing the viral video made by English and how the public reacted to the video re-positioned their thinking.

After creating the awareness she so desired, English engaged in her own treatment. She encouraged psoriasis patients to make follow-up care a routine, as it is very important to keep the flare-ups in check. It is also important to keep a record of their progress as they get treated. They are to identify the major trigger to their flare-ups and work on them. Psoriasis is largely manageable and better, more advanced treatments are constantly being invented.

New English

With all these challenges experienced by English she was still able to rise to the top of her career. She insists that she does not have anything against those who rejected her at the onset due to her condition. She believes that her success is the best answer she could ever give to them. The rejection served as a driving force that kept her pushing forward. If she was not rejected she would probably have settled for less. The same disease that people rejected her for brought her to the limelight and made her a household name. The documentary she made on psoriasis became her awakening. Many people suffering from psoriasis can now open up about their situation without feeling abnormal. She has actualized her dream of becoming not just a model but an inspiration to others. She is living her dream and desires to see other psoriasis patients live theirs as well. As she had experienced firsthand the limitation one can feel because of a health condition they can’t control, she decided to help others push past such limitations.

English was made a spokesperson for the National Psoriasis Foundation in 2007. While many might think this position is all about a supermodel acting as the face of the foundation, English disagrees. ”It’s not about being a supermodel, it’s about being a role model”, she says. The position means a lot to her as she states that it is the highest level she can achieve. She wants all psoriasis patients to learn from her story. Life is filled with challenges that will try to discourage people from pursuing their dreams. She wants others suffering from psoriasis and probably experiencing all the challenges she had to pass through, to believe in themselves and persist in their efforts to achieve what they desire.

She encourages people not to let any situation dictate how they live their life. No matter the health challenge, beat it and forge ahead. Psoriasis is for life, if you have it embrace it fully. It might not be easy but that is who you are. Tell people you have psoriasis, do not be ashamed of it. You can’t hide forever, come out of your shell and live fully. Make sure you get into a good treatment program, it makes all the difference.

10 Simple Ways To Treat Heat Rash

10 Simple Ways To Treat Heat Rash

Updated: 3 August, 2019

Heat rash is one of the most common skin problems. If you have not experienced it, you must be very lucky. Otherwise known as prickly heat, heat rash occurs more often during summer.  In summer, people tend to sweat more. Continuous and excessive sweating will eventually block the sweat pores. Such constant sweating will result to the formation of pustules all over the skin. These pustules are often tiny and numerous. They can be itchy and very uncomfortable, turning red even as you scratch them.

What then happens if your sweat pores are blocked while you continue to sweat? Where does the sweat go? How is it discharged out of the body? As the sweat pores are blocked, sweat has no place to go. It remains under the skin and builds up in it. It then springs up as boils and rashes commonly referred to as Miliaria (a more generalized name for prickly heat and heat rash). The concentration of salt in human sweat is high and when left underneath the skin, causes irritation. It is the strain of the sweat logged beneath the outer skin that leads to irritation, itchiness and discomfort, all symptoms of heat rash.

Heat rash is very common in babies. Babies are very tender and need to acclimatize to the surrounding environment before being fully exposed to it. Due to this, infants are often wrapped up in their early days, be it in summer or winter. The fear of cold gaining entrance into their body is far greater than that of them getting prickly heat, as mothers dread the thought of their babies getting pneumonia. Mothers and caregivers will therefore prefer to keep them wrapped up. When babies are wrapped up more often than they should be, without giving time for them to get some air, heat rash is inevitable. If babies wear pampers or nappies constantly (as is the common case), they tend to also develop heat rash. They are usually restless when they have this rash and cry more often as their skin is constantly itch. There are three common types of heat rash (miliaria).

They include:

  • Miliaria crystallina: This is the clear form of  heat rash. Rash is not intense, itchy or painful and is usually the early stage of prickly heat. If treated immediately, it will clear on its own, within 2 days. At this stage the skin still appears clear.
  • Miliaria rubra: This type of rash is more intense, prickly with red bumps. Common in both infants and adults. It occurs much deeper in the epidermis and is usually the result of mild heat rash left untreated.
  • Miliaria profunda: This is the result of constant occurrence of heat rash in an individual. It is not very common and usually manifest in adults. At this point the affected skin surfaces are covered with lesions. Treatment should be taken very serious as regular routine change will not make the rash go.

Heat rashes occur in some people more than others. The following individuals are more likely to have heat than others: bedridden patients, obese people, infants, military troops, athletes, children under four and people with congenital absence.

Parts of the body usually affected by heat rash include: back, abdomen, groin, chest, neck, face, buttocks, elbows and under the breasts.

Heat rash can generally be diagnosed by non-medical personnel (or by self). It does not necessarily require a formal diagnosis by a doctor. It is only when it becomes persistent that such formal diagnosis by a physician is advised.

treat heat rash

Regular heat rash is not communicable. It usually clears up within few days. However, the way you care for your skin during this period determines how soon the rash will disappear.  Treatment of heat rash basically requires consistent care and certain adjustments to your daily routines. Specific cosmetic products are also targeted to treat this condition. Consistent use of these products will definitely produce good results in a short time. Treatments are generally given based on intensity of the rash and conditions that cause or aggravate the heat.

The following Are Simple Ways to Treat Heat Rash

 1.  Use Powder:

This type of powder is made specifically for the treatment of heat rash. Get one for yourself if you are experiencing this condition. The powder cools and soothes your skin. It reduces the severity of the irritation and calms the itch. In short while, your skin will become clear and smooth. The powder may contain essential oils that not only give you a refreshing feeling but make you smell nice. It helps you feel fresh in humid seasons that may lead to excessive sweating which may cause body odor and counter such foul smell. This  powder can be used by both adults and children. It is best used after bath especially in the night. It works by preventing further irritation, itch and soreness while reducing the current discomfort. Keep powder close in warm seasons. It does not only treat heat rash but can also serve as a preventive measure.

2.  Wear loose cotton clothes:

If you have heat rash, it is best to wear clothes that will allow air into your skin without much restriction. Clothes that absorb sweat are also highly advised if you are suffering from this skin condition. Regular rash usually disappears if your skin receives more air. Switching over to strictly cotton clothes for the duration of the condition can be of great help towards its treatment. Change to light cotton beddings too. If you sweat on your bed-sheet during hot season and it does not dry off immediately, it will irritate your skin and worsen the rash you already have. It might even cause heat rash if you don’t presently have it. Let all clothing material used at this period be porous cotton.

  3.  Take your shower more often:

It will make you feel itchy more often. As your pores are clogged by sweat you will feel hot most of the time. This is a very uncomfortable feeling. Take cold shower at least 3 times daily to cool your body. Let your skin be free of sweat so the rashes can go quickly. Take your bath if you sweat so as not to make the condition worse. You should dedicate time to soak in a cold bath if possible. This way moisture is forced into your pores and the tension of trapped sweat on your skin is greatly reduced. This will make the rash disappear in a very short time.

  4.  Drink more water:

Water helps cool down the body system even from the inside. It is important to stay dehydrated if you have rash. During hot seasons, you will thirst more for water even as you sweat more. As you sweat more, drink more water to avoid dehydration. When you take water, it helps to maintain a cooler body system thereby reducing the intensity of the rash. It generally thrives on a warm skin resulting from a hot body system.

  5.  Use Sprays:

Heat rash sprays are specially formulated to cool down the body. It soothes the skin and minimizes the itching that accompanies this uncomfortable rash. It can spread to other body parts if it is constantly scratched. This spray helps to relieve the urge to scratch the rashes. Go for heat rash sprays that do not contain chemicals and synthetic materials. These compounds might not be good for your skin and can cause reactions. It is better to use sprays that contain beneficial herbal substances like lavender and eucalyptus. They have additional soothing properties and will hardly react with your skin. Heat rash sprays can be used directly on the affected body parts. It sticks properly to the skin and soothes them, cooling down the body and making it difficult for the rash to continue. Within a very short time, the rashes will disappear.

  6.  Get an allergy sunscreen:

The first basic step to treating heat rash is to stop it from spreading to other parts of the skin. If the rash becomes more intense, it gets more difficult to handle and wrecks more havoc to your skin. In some cases of heat rash, dark spots remain on the affected skin parts even after the rash is gone. Such spots give the skin an unpleasant look and should be avoided. Intense sunlight on a skin covered by heat rash can cause such spots. The last thing you need when you have heat rash is more sun. It intensifies the rash, giving you more itch and irritation. You tend to scratch the rash more and this will only make it more pronounced and sore. Use a good sunscreen to avoid heat rash. It will also treat the rash. Get a sunscreen that also acts as an allergy sun lotion. They help you sweat less as they protect your skin from the intense power of the sun. As you already know, if you sweat less, the rashes on your skin will disappear quickly.

  7.  Avoid medicated soaps:

You already know how important it is to take frequent baths when you have heat rash. Use only mild soaps for your bath. Stay away from medicated soaps at the moment. While these soaps help you fight germs of all kinds, it will most likely add to your skin irritation if you have heat rash. Use only soaps that will soothe your skin during this period (you can go back to using your medicated soap after treating the rash). Wash your body gently too. Do not use harsh wash cloth as they might worsen the rash, causing them to spread out on other skin surfaces. You have to avoid anything that will make the rashes more intense. Allow the rashes to clear without aggravating them.

  8.  Spend more time in air-conditioned rooms:

If your skin is covered with rash you will feel warm (even hot) most of the time. Hot environments could increase this rash and make them more difficult to clear up. Try to spend more time in an air-conditioned room. If you don’t have an air-conditioner in your house, visit places that have (malls, cinemas, banking halls, bowling alleys). Let the cold air from such environment penetrate your skin and lower your skin temperature. Heat rashes will not thrive in a cold open environment that allows free circulation of air. As your body temperature decreases, the rash will decrease too. With time they will disappear from your skin.

  9.  Avoid skin to skin contact:

Skin surfaces that overlap or are in constant contact (under the breasts, groin, and abdomen) normally trap sweat. Therefore, when heat rash occurs on these surfaces, extra attention should be given to them. Place cotton materials between touching or overlapping skin surfaces. Do not let them rub off on each other as irritation will be intensified. If these surfaces keep touching they will itch more and become sore. Try to let air constantly touch these body surfaces and keep them dry.

  10.  Apply antifungal Creams:

Heat rash can occur because of a fungal infection. If this is the case, common practices cannot treat the condition. Use antifungal creams that are specially formulated to soothe and alleviate such cases of heat rash. If heat rash is caused by fungus, itching and irritation may be more intense. Antifungal creams that contain clotrimazole fight the fungus responsible for itching and irritation. Hydrocortisone creams are also very effectiv. Hydrocortisone is usually characterized by a foul odor but is a very effective cream for heat rash. Calamine lotion is another product that has proven effective against treatment of rash.

Heat rash is very common and springs up in every hot season. They usually disappear on their own if routine care is practiced.
