Depending on your needs, there are four kinds of mouthwashes:

1.   Desensitizing mouthwash

This type of mouthwash contains Arginine (used to numb sensitive sides in the mouth). For best result, it is highly recommended you consult your dentist before using it. 

2.   Flouride Rinse

This kind of mouthwash generally contains 0.05% of Sodium Flouride for added protection against tooth decay. This kind of mouthwash is recommended for those having problem fighting off cavities.

Just as the name implies, it is used as a home whitening substance. This kind of mouthwash contains bleaching substance commonly called hydrogen peroxide. If you are looking to just whiten your teeth then this mouthwash is recommended

  • Increased sensitivity around the tooth: some mouthwashes contains alcohol which can dissolve mucus layer in the teeth causing great sensitivity around the gum area
  • Hinders the benefits in toothpaste: When used together, the chemicals in mouthwash and toothpaste cancels out the benefit of each other. It is recommended you leave a gap of 30 minutes before using mouthwash after brushing.
  • Think about the monetary cost: When you brush and floss regularly, it can affect your wallet. You should minimize it unless you have gum disease or any dental problem

When Should You Use Mouthwash?

If you decide not to use mouthwash, it won’t cause any health effect but still, there are some reasons you should consider using mouthwash.

Use mouth when you suffer from the following:

Appropriate Way to Use Mouthwash

If you decide to use mouthwash then you need to know the correct way to use mouthwash. You should gargle and swish for up to 1 minute. Most of the chemicals found in mouthwash only begin to work after 1 minute.

Use mouthwash alongside brushing. Please note that mouthwash gives you fresh breadth and not necessary a cure to most of the dental problems available.
