In addition, the fingers and toes are now well distinct. Cartilage and bones will continue forming. Few days to the end of the 9th week, the construction of the heart will be complete. In this week, the embryo is still small but acts and looks like a baby. The arms and leg are now longer and can bend the elbow towards the knee. In this week, your unborn baby is now called a fetus. All major organs like the muscle, neck, fingers, ears and nose are now in place and beginning to function. The jaws are now in place too. The mouth cavity and the nose are tightly joined.

11th Week of your Pregnancy
This week is another big growth week. Your baby now has twenty little set of teeth (milk teeth ). The brain is growing fast and producing over 250,000 nerve cells every 60 seconds. When your doctor uses a Doppler stethoscope on you, s/he can hear the rapid humming sound of the baby’s heartbeat. Since the child’s blood is oxygenated through the placenta, there will be an opening in the atrium of the heart and the presence of a bypass valve to divert much of the blood away from the lungs.
Your baby’s genitals are developing, but the sex can’t be determined yet until it has developed properly. By this time, the placenta has developed enough strength to produce the needed hormone for the baby. Your baby’s eyelids have fused shut and will open around week 27.
By the end of this week, your baby will weigh close to 0.18 ounce (5g), the size of a small plum.
